majanoes out of control....help

A raccoon butterfly will probably eat every majano you can provide and come up looking for more.........and therin lies the problem. They will move on to the next tastiest cnidarian in your tank. They have done a real number on my caribbean blue-green zoo's and my huge head of eagle eyes.

I tell you what though, in my 550 reef two medium sized Raccoons cleaned out every last majano. I need to break down the tank for a major cleaning anyway so I can catch them up at that point. I believe it has been worth it.

If you are takin the rocks out anyway just encase each majano in some super glue gel. I did that and the ones I had have not come back.

It would be impossible to find them all in a tank of my size and all it takes is one to re-populate a system.

However, If I had done that with the original majano I contracted life would have been much easier.

My LFS has a Jade filefish in every single reef system including the frag tanks. They swear by them, so they are easy to get for me. I retruned mine for store credit after a few weeks work. It is an easy fish to catch, just dont net em..

i removed a couple of the smaller rocks that were really bad and injected the rest with the red wine vinegar. they are almost all gone now! a couple more dosages and if i ever see a little one pop up again ill just bust out the vinegar. (thx seaduck)
