majestic & blue spotted angel

Hi all

My LFS got a blue spotted angelfish in this weekend. I already have a majestic angel in my 180g 6-foot long tank. What do you think, will they be fine together?

Im also not sure if the blue spotted will harm any corals. My majestic does not bother any corals.

Ive never introduced an angel in a tank which has already an angel in it. I cant imagine how the majestic will react.

Any thoghts?

I introduced a small blue line angel to my 180, also housing a large majestic and I used the fish box to acclimate the new fish for a few days. I used the same method to introduce a smaller meredithi and there were no problems. On an earlier occasion I tried to introduce a flagfin and the majestic went nuts and I had to remove the flag. Both the blue line and meredithi were a lot smaller and the flagfin was larger by comparison, not sure if it was coloration, genus, or size or some other factor as to why the majestic went after one and not the other two.

I have a tiny Grey poma juvie in my refugium so I will be trying this again.

Thanks for sharing this dude! I really appreciate that. So I am still not sure if I should try it, but as far I can say my majestic is really mellow. He never showed aggression yet.

I'd like to add with my experience with blue spots, is they aren't the easiest fish to get to eat or keep healthy. A quarantine tank is highly recommended.

The QT is no problem for me. My LFS (a good friend of mine) does the QT for me and get the fishes to eat. He QTs every fish I order as long as I want.

But maybe its better to just keep one big angel in my tank. I dont want aggression. But the blue spotted is so cool And the price is awesome.

I had a small sub-adult 3" Blue-spotted angel that was in QT for 6 months due to it being so shy, and also due to the difficult time I had getting it to feed consistently. I got it plump and feeding on everything (it preferred NLS pellet). I added it to the display with an egg crate divider for 2 weeks. The other fish saw it, gave no attention to it. I removed the egg crate and there was very minor chasing from my Bandit and Regal, and it was still eating. Then, out of the blue, 3 weeks later it stopped eating. It went on hunger strike for a month, looked awful, and eventually faded away and died. It is one of the more difficult fish to keep on a long term basis and should probably be added first. Other Chaetodontoplus that I have had better luck with are Bluelines and Meredithi. IME, another issue with Chaetodontoplus family is they seem to succumb more easily to ich.
