I had my 2 occi clowns with a great nem for over a year and they never touched it good luck. Some people get it to happen fast.

It's going to be hit or miss whether they will host a nem or not. What worked for me a year ago: I knew where my clowns spent most of their time. (their territory) and I simply placed the nem in their area. The rest happened naturally. Over a couple days the clowns would rub up against. They then chose a mushroom right beneath the nem as their favorite spot.

All in all, I have no real suggestions haha. They will host if they feel like it sadly. All you can do is possibly increase your odds.

it is a natural process as said before.
i got a pair of Black & White Ocellaris Clownfish which would'nt go near my nems, even that they were living in one in my lfs. so i started feeding the nem before them so as to try and intice them,but no!! so i put pair of perculas in as well,took about a week for them to go into me pink tipped, the b+w then took refuge in the same nem, evicted the percs then moved to my bubbletip. the percs are now quite happy using my hippo or torch coral, whateverer takes their fancy, nice to have a second home??? hehe

Are we talking about farm raised/aqua cultured, or wild caught??? This has a lot to do with it...

I have had success with a cookie jar more then once. Down south my nieghbor bred clowns and sold them so I got into it with him buying nems because people payed more for a hosting clown nem package... We used a large cookie jar with mesh rubber banded over it. Probly worked 75 percent of the time then once you take them out probly 10% of them instantly stopped hosting. It is hit or miss even with the force host. (my percents maybe off a bit but you get the point)

This is going to sound very crazy but it worked for me within 1 hour. (if I remember correctly) I posted around asking the very same question. I had gotten all separately, the anemone, and each clown...

Someone suggested letting my clowns "see" it happening! You know, monkey see, monkey do!? I figured the guy was crazy but it was easy enough to try... and worked for me!

Using my iPad I found a good YouTube video of clowns hosting (same type of clown) and held the iPad ageist the glass effectively allowing them to watch the video. Restarted the video in a loop, over and over for about a half hour.

I believe (if my memory serves me correctly) within the hour they began hosting my anemone. It was almost magic...

When I later asked around people explained it as, clowns have great vision and its no surprise that this can make a difference. Hope it helps!!!

I have also heard of people taping pictures of clowns hosting an anenome to the side of their tank. Sounds crazy but I have heard it works. My clowns don't pay any attention to my anenome one hosts in my finger leather and the other hosts some palys... Go figure

Funny story I have two pairs and two nems in my tank my black pair started with my Duncan's got kicked out by orange pair so the found the red nem same thing orange pair took over the red nem but now my black pair found my othere nem but only host it during the day the orange pair sleep in that nem at night and the black pair pick a torch or Duncan's to sleep in but soon as lights on the switch its funny look four weeks they did it naturally wish u luck

Did I say u got the clowns from Appalachian trails? Then it's simple all you need to do is put a casino inside your anemone and bam instant hosting lmao sorry couldn't help it. Happens naturally my man good luck

What type of clown and what type of nem did you purchase? Certain species prefer some nems than others while some some nems typically don't get hosted. My ORA clown started hosting my elegance very quickly as a small juvenile and hasnt left it since Feb of 2011 lol
