Male / Female blue throat trigger

Whats the main difference between the male and the female. Are they easy to breed? I was thinking about a pair in a 120gal

The males have more of a blue troat then the females. A 120 is kinda small for a pair of them. Breeding wize, I have now idea but my guess is it would be pretty hard. Phishy Business has a pair of them in now for only $150 The male is in the front and the female is in the back in that picture.

I don't know of anyone breeding any species of triggerfish in captivity.

I've heard of one or two people who have a spawning pair, but haven't been able to raise anything. IIRC, these are in HUGE tanks.

the female bluethroat has NO blue on her throat. She is just a pale gay/light bluish. The mles from Hawaii ar the nicest. They have a rish blue with yellow tang yellow fin highlights.

They are DEEP water fish. When they spawn they do a circular spiral dance up the water column they need a LOT of vertical room. Like feet, not inches. Also, this species of triggre (bluejaws, crosshatch srgassum, goldenback) are all found in harems, not pairs. So if there was any possibilty of spawning you would want to try a trio with better luck. But the triggers wont spawn in short tanks. No room for their mating dance.
