Hmmmm.... Cryopreserve the sperms from the males, wait for the females to release eggs, take sperm out of cryo and fertilize... it could work. Just need a little liquid nitrogen. And boys and girls...
Though there is no specific info out there about S. haddoni spawning, the odds are pretty good that they are synchronous spawners - i.e. the presence of sperm in the water will cause females to spawn at the same time (as well as trigger other males to start spawning).
So you might not have to cryo anythingJust need males and females in the same water - and the ability to capture the eggs and raise the offspring. It's already been done with H. crispa and E. quadricolor - just not yet with S. haddoni.
Granted mine was a stress induced spawning, but when the male one spawned I saw zero reaction from the other S. Haddoni that was in the tank
Please please please please record any data you can regarding lighting schedules, water changes, feeding...anything that you think may have caused this. And congrats on the spawning, you are obviously caring for it very well!
Toddtrex: stress induced..?(I am just playing around...actually, instead of jacking another thread I am starting another one about nem reproduction and I would love it if you guys could stop by and contribute)
