Man I love my Tangs!

For a long time I have just kept corals because they are easy to keep and I have very low waste to deal with, lately I have been buying fish, cardinals, gobies, fire fish, ect. you know the standard stuff, then I wanted a more active fish so I picked up a female unicorn (I know, 800 gallon tank is in the near future) I call her "big fat eat everything in site and when someone poops you eat that too-pig" so I figured she needed a swim buddy so I acquired two more tangs (ERRR!!! tang police!) an eating very well blue powder tang and a skinny but also eating very well yellow tang. Man those guys love to swim in and out of the rocks, over the rocks, in the flow and out, there's so much "fish fun" going on in the tank that my 9 year old fart of a maroon clown and her lackey husband actually left the nest to play with the kids. These are a great combo of fish I have now, everyone gets along, they even tamed my pis*y 6 line and float 1/4 inch of my cardinals for minutes at a time. of course I have to feed the tank twice a day now but it's worth the extra time and money, even the wife likes to sit and watch the fish like she used to years ago, I'm just having a good time and I wanted to share my "good times". *

Funny you mention the six line wrasse. It seems to be a hot topic tonight. Yes the tangs are beautiful and fun to watch.

Thanks, It was nothing.......but time, money, effort, patients, research, sacrafice and a divorce, other than that a breeze, thank you it's becoming alot of fun again!

Hmm, I hate my tang :) He eats corals and clams and hates all of my other fish. I hear that powder blues can be very aggressive, you might have a hard time introducing any more large fish to your tank after he becomes established.

On another note, gorgeous tank (that coming from an SPSer too!).

The uni may outgrow, but I think you're OK for your tangs in a 155g.
Tangs are great, especially for algae control.
I don't think I'd feed twice a day, other than throwing in a piece of nori for them to munch.
Looks nice!

Everyone here talks about having to feed tangs twice a day, so far the only tang that will eat algea from a clip is the unicorn (shocker), So, once a day is O.K.?

Some even go every other day.
I like my fish fat and happy, so once a day.
I keep bio on the low side for this and good skimming.
Over feeding can do more harm than good.
Some fish like anthias need 3-4 feedings daily, but with tangs IMO variety is key.
The others will start to eat nori also.
Besides, I like my tangs grazing on macro or whatever grows on my rocks to keep clean.

Very funny! Yes I love my PBT, this fish is hard to keep but worth every effort. Nice tank you have there. I used to feed my tank twice a day, now down to once a day since I feed them twice the amount now they have grown bigger.

Saw your dive pictures, I think we stayed in the same hotel as yours at Waikiki, but the dive wasn't much fun. Is the Maui's dive more interesting? I only snorkeled in Maui long time ago that was great reefs there, but Oahu reefs were pathetic. I don't know if you got the same experience.

We stayed at the Marriott on the 30+ floor it has a great view, What's nice is we can go to Hawaii for free every year because of our frequent flier miles (united) and all year long we use our Marriott credit card (for hotel), Maui's dive was much nicer than Kauai, but I am hitting every island until I'm done, in June we go to Australia to dive the great barrier reef (wife has a paid business trip). Thanks for the compliment on the tank it's been a great experience.
