Mandarin and a Pistol Shrimp

Should not be a problem. I've done it a few times. Pistols really just go after smaller snails and other inverts, they tend to leave fish alone.

I don't see the point in having a pistol shrimp without a goby to pair with it though! It's fun to watch them together.

yeah, i agree... but a couple of other points... how deep and old is your sand bed? pistols burrow... and rarely surface without a partner goby. in a 150, that animal is gonna disappear rarely to be seen again... i do however, think that every sandbed should have at least one burrowing pistol shrimp living in it.

I have a pistol and goby in my current 105. Looking at upgrading to a 125 or 150 and thought I would look into a mandarin. Also I am lucky my pistols main doorway is dead center front of tank.
