Only fish I have is a Tomato Clown
a mandy needs around 100-150 pods an hour, all day long, to survive...
If you are planning on having a mandarin goby then you need to be prepared to feed it at least twice a day and you can't skip meals. When feeding you also have to give the fish special attention due to the fact that they are pretty slow deliberate swimmers. When you buy the fish try and get an aquacultured one or one that already eats prepared foods. I did it and it is very rewarding as they are gorgeous fish.
They need to be fed more than twice a day in order to a healthy mandy...they eat all day in the wild, like birds...
I was simply giving twice a day as a base line feeding regiment. If a person isn't willing to do this for the mandarin when they are planning on weaning it onto prepared foods then they probably shouldn't be looking at this fish
These folks are right. Mine eats mysis, and even small pellets sometimes. I feed every morning, and twice after work before bed. Even still, I add pods to the tank.
For proof, I added what was advertised as 2,000 pods from R2G 2 weeks ago. Yesterday, I had to break down the tank that the mandarin was in to remove another problem fish, and saw absolutely zero pods in the LR or swimming around with a complete tank breakdown. I'm sure some were hiding in the rocks where I couldn't see, but my mandarin went through just about that entire pod population in about 2 weeks. They literally constantly eat when they are not sleeping...
I agree - what a bunch of nerds we are.lol, it's fun...
