For the most part my Mandarin eats pods, but occasionally I thought I caught him eating bits of food caught in a patch of hair algae. Recently he shows interest in Reef Chili. I have had this bottle so long that it isn't as fine as when it was fresh. The larger clumps tend to not mix well and float to the top of the water. This little guy now swims inverted along the top of the water when I add the chili to the food mix sucking up the particles. It is odd, but I'm glad he has found another food option besides pods. I'll try to get video of this. He is startled pretty easily when skimming the surface.
