My personal experience has been that they will not be bothered by your crabs. I have about 20 different hermits (different sized) in my tank and none of them mess with my Mandarin when he sleeps.
When it sleeps it secrets extra slime that I am told is not to pleasant of a taste for other marine life. This is purely third hand information I got form the forums but it makes sense...mine sleeps all over the place turning pale white and nothing even goes near it.
Hey Thanks
I need something to eat the copods they are a lot of them in my tank, the wife says they are disgusting and wont put her hands in the water no more.:spin1:
Np. The Mandarins hunt podz non stop. Except when they sleep. IF your tank can support it I would recommend getting a pair. 1 Red Mandarin and 1 Blue Mandarin would be my dream
As long as the crabs are not predatory you should be fine. By the way what kind of mandarin do you have? I have a spotted male. You can see him in my avatar pic. That was him when he was very young. Now he has grown at least an inch!
I dont have any yet. I have been reading about them and I do like the red and blue ones. It will probably depend on what the lfs has in stock. I have a 72g bow
front with 70# LR. I will try one and see how the pods hold up.
