I just got this Mantis shrimp a few hours ago at my LFS. I special ordered it as a zebra mantis shrimp, but I dont think it is, and I have been reading a lot of stuff about it. Any Ideas?

Yeah I know, I really wanted a spearer too. Had I known I would end up with a smasher I would have gotten a peacock. I can't find anything that looks like this one.

Thanks Roy, do females change color after time, or what should I expect there?

By the way, do you work with Sheila Patek out at Berkeley? Her presentation on youtube is what got me into stomatopods in the first place.

G. chiragra do not change color to any great extent.

Sheila was a postdoc in my lab and then was hired at Berkeley. I work with her on several projects including the biomechanics of the strike and sound production.
