Mantis not eating?

okay so i have had my new mantis friends for about 2 weeks now and 1 is still doing very well, he goes out daily exploring and gathering food up while the other has stoped eating and continues to hide out in 2 different rocks..... at first i though he was just molting when he covered up his hole. but now he has moved to a different rock and just sits there.

he may come out and touch the food but doesnt take it at all and refuses to eat. could he have just molted? what are the signs of him molting or signs that he has just molted?

thanks

Its probably just a pre-molt thing. My mantis did the same thing where it didn't eat, would dig different burrows before finally settling down and holding up for a few days before I saw it again.

It was about a week after it emerged from its burrow that it began to eat again.

Sounds like a recent molt. What species and how large?

Roy

from what you have told me it is a Neogonodactylus wennerae and it is about 1 inch in length maybe a bit larger.

For an animal that size, that is a very long time to go without eating because of a molt. At most I would expect it not to eat for a week before and a week after the molt.
