Mantis survive cycling tanks...

and i'm a bit of a newb but because they do survive cycling tanks all the time wouldn't this mean you could put them in a 10g thats going to be there future home, before the rock has cured ? sorry i know this must seem like a newby question.

You could, but it would be best to let it cycle first. If you are going to pay for a mantis you want to make sure it lives. Some mantises might survive cycling, but you have no idea how many die, do you? and alot of mantises aren't as hardy as your average hitch hiking N. wennerae.

do you have to drip acclimate them?

They are very sensitive to changes in salinity like all inverts. Drip acclimation is best.....

to cycle throw in your rock (cured or uncured, doesn't matter) your sand, and a dead frozen shrimp. and just wait. There's no point in cycling with a live animal. cruel if anything.

Yeah i would drip acclimate.
