mantis???

I picked up some fla rock for my 110g and heard clicking noises a minute after I put the rock in. I picked up the rock and found a baby shrimp hiding in a crevice. Very small greenish florescent kinda body semi transparent, 1 large claw red, and the other claw was smaller same color as the body. I know he was the one making the noise because I put a net near him and he started to make that clicking noise at the net. Anyone know if this is a mantis or a pistol shrimp, I dont have a pic i wish i did. thanks,

You are dealing with a small snapping shrimp.

Are they a bad in a reef? Do they harm other shrimp? I never found these things in LR I got in NY, I move here and I get these things haha.

About the only harm they cause is paranoia in aquarists who are convinced they have mantis shrimp in their system.

you can get a symbiotic goby (yasa Hashe....sp?) and ythey will form a pair which is the coolest thing.
