Manually Cropping Caulerpa, ideas?

I have got a caulerpa issues. I got a small handful with my cleaner shrimp about 9 months ago and after a couple of "weed pulling" efforts, I have determined another process is needed to keep it in check.

I am not particularly looking for an animal solution to the problem, but more of a mechanical solution. I have seen tongs and feeding utensils that look like they would pinch OK, but I would like an outside opinion.

I have tried some stainless steel tweezers, but I worry anytime I get metal near my tank. The tweezers are remarkably effective, however. Am I over-reacting to the metal-in-the-tank concerns?

You won't beat it by weeding alone.. and that takes a lot of work, especially in a tall, big tank.

read the thread just above yours that covey started, adn you can see soem of what he has done in his tank...... nutrient control becomes a very large factor for this...

Stainless steel tweezers shouldn't do anything to your tank, provided you don't leave them sitting in the tank for long long enough that they start to rust. Other methods would probably be easier than manual removal though, fwiw.

Medical foricep were the best thing I found.
I have them in the tank for 20 minutes at a time and not a bit of rust.

but like matt said your nutrient control is the biggest thing. You can tirm it but you will never get rid of manually
