Mappa puffer with ick.

My friend has a huge mappa puffer and he told me that it has white spots all over it indicating ick. He wants to give the puffer a freshwater dip and was wondering how long the mappa puffer should stay in the freshwater. Any suggestions?

FW dips will not cure ich, but they will stress the fish. I suggest hyposalinity in quarantine for ich. Watch the pH.
