Marbled Cat Shark Makes Motor Noise

Last night when I was watching my cat shark she started making this motor/growling/clicking noise. It is really odd and she kept doing all night. If I could describe the sound it would be like when you are snorkeling and hear a Motorboat passing by a couple hundred feet away. It is fairly loud also, louder than an emperor angel bark. Anyone else experience this or know what it means. Is it a call for a mate, or a sinister growl of hate? I'm not sure what it is but it is kind of creepy having a shark glaring at you and growling.:eek1:

i also have a 12in marble cat shark and have had it for over 6months in my 300g and has never ever made any kind of "sound". might be stressed or something. keep us updated.

I never heard of any shark making a sound. Are you 100% positive it was coming from your shark and not a filter or anything? Sometimes skimmers are noisy(well most of the time).

Well its pretty weird she makes it occassionally during the night, never during the day. She made it around 3 in the morning so I don't think it's something you'd even come across if you've owned one a while.

I don't think it's stress she is eating very well which I am happy about, I was worried about her eating but she seems to really have a liking for krill. What do you feed you marbled cat amd?

i mostly feed mine shark formula from ocean nutrition i believe, squid, and silversides. it goes crazy for the shark formula though!!

Really? My BB Bamboo never touches Shark Formula.

yup, my mrbl goes into a true frenzy throwing his head side to side trying to locate the shark formula i put on the end of a plastic feeding stick. i like to make him work for it for a lil while and then will place it in front of its mouth.

Haven't heard the sound in a couple of days now. Don't think it was stress. as it happened a full week after I got her, not right away. I was thinking the opposite, that she was finally feeling comfortable and making noise. It sounded like she was calling someone, or bouncing it off the walls of the tank since she does it mainly when she is moving.
