Want to hear Joe - BRING IT
Have a bouncy kid - BRING IT
Joe is co-founder and curator of the Long Island Aquarium, aquarium in Riverhead, New York. Unlike the curators of many public aquariums, however, Joe is also an ambitious coral-reef aquarist in his private life, and started as a hobbyist like thousands of others. Perhaps this is why Atlantis Marine World includes a gigantic reef aquarium, which contains 20,000 gallons (75,000 L) of seawater and the largest aquarium-grown biomass of stony corals in the world. Perhaps most exciting, the exhibit is now witnessing regular spawning events of many reef fish species from anthias to large tangs and wrasses.
He has consulted with many public Aquariums worldwide, and has also presented reef-keeping lectures throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Prior to co-founding the Long Island Aquarium, Yaiullo worked with the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation, and served as Exhibits Director at the Okeanos Ocean Research Foundation. While working as a Senior Aquarist with the New York Aquarium, he played an integral role in the design and construction of the 22,000-square foot Discovery Cove building, winner of the 1990 American Zoo and Aquarium Association Certificate of Achievement award. Yaiullo is a graduate of Southampton College, Long Island University (Southampton, NY).
