Maricultured Corals

Is anyone having good luck with maricultured Acros and Millies? There are a bunch available here locally. They're not priced too bad for LFS fare. I just wonder how they will do in my tank. So far tank propagated SPS corals are doing well in my system. If you're having good luck... do you have any tips that'll help me succeed?

as long as you can clean up the plug they are comes with, that usually have some unwanted algae on it.

Make sure to inspect for pests and dip.

Yes a large percent of my corals are maricultured. I would go a step further however and just assume they have pests and treat accordingly.

Yes just like everyone said make sure you dip. You'll notice people with a lot of wild acros in there tanks also have flatworms. I know I did on my last tank.

These can be hard to keep as hard a wild corals. They come from the ocean and sunlight and the changed to enclosed systems with artificial light can be hard one them.

My tip is to let them aclimmate to these new conditions at the store, if you see the coral has been doing well at the store for a month or so then buy it.

+1 checking on pests and quarantine them if possible (any coral even aquacultured)

I cut them off the bases and toss the base. Then dip the coral

Thanks everyone. So far I've been able to get SPS corals from systems I trust to be pest free. I guess I've been lucky, but so far I haven't had any problems. I'm thinking it's time to quit relying on luck. While reading your responses, I realized I don't have a clue how to "dip" a coral. Can someone school me a little? How do I dip a coral, what do I use, etc.?

Coral RX and Revive are some popular dips. Theres a lot of threads and youtube videos explaining this process. We all learn somewhere, I used to be a risk taker with this, but once I started dipping I would never introduce a coral again without it.
