Does anyone have a marine beta housed with a tang? What species of tang and are there any downside issues with the combo? Thanks

I had a marine beta and a few tangs for a couple years together. Almost no interaction at all. They definitely just wanted to go their separate ways. One of the tangs was a nasty one too, no interest in the beta. Beta mostly stays in and around the rocks, likes it best when the lights are low. Quite the opposite of the tangs, probably why they got along.

Marine betta will keep on his own side. With or without tangs marine betta is a shy fish that will swin in open ocasionally. I kept mine for a few years, had keep with several tangs(210G) and now with a purple tang in a smaller tank (100G) and no difference in behavior. No tang bother him at all.

Thanks for responses. The reason I ask is I had to sell my mimic tang, not only because he bothered the beta but he just went rogue for some reason. I feel that tangs may be too boisterous for marine betas( keeps them hiding more than would be expected).

My marine beta is in with a Blonde Naso Tang and a Kole Tang. We did have a Vlamingii tang in with all them, and he did not bother the beta (except the Vlamingii ate ALL of the food we put in, so I was worried the beta wasn't getting enough to eat).
Had to take the tank apart this week to remove the Vlamingii, could not be happier he is gone though.

I don't have my beta with my tangs and with the way my beta eats, I would not feel comfy that he would get enough food. Mine patiently waits for a large chunk of food to pass in near him, then he carefully goes after it.

I've had my beta for over 11 years now. In that time, he (or she, who knows?) has lived with two separate yellow tangs, one in a 135 and now a different tang in a 180. Both tangs stayed near the beta, or maybe it's vice versa, almost constantly. Either way, it's a rare things to see them on different sides of the aquarium. My wife jokes about their "relationship."
The beta is slow swimmer, but he's definitey not shy. In that 11 years, he has figure out where his food comes from and if I'm near the tank, he's always front and center looking for a meal. The tang is a far more aggressive eater, but every three days or so I drop in a larger piece that the tang can't easily eat. He generally gets at it first, but since he can only chew on a corner of it, the beta ends up gulping it down.
Anyways, my point is these two species have always lived very well together in my aquariums.

For all the reasons posted above. Marine betta is a slower moving shy fish, and tangs are extremely fast and can get aggressive. People are concern that the betta wouldn't get enough food. From the sounds of the bettas can be kept with smaller species of tangs if the situation is set up correctly, but they shouldn't be kept with several large fast tangs.
