Marine Grade White Epoxy

Dr. RHF,

I tried searching around for it but didn't see a thread on it though I'm sure they exist. Anyhow, are there marine grade epoxy's that are reef safe? I have heard some may contain harmful metals?

thanks,

Matt

Hobster,

I'm trying to create more flow through my LR. In order to do this safely, I don't want to have to lean rocks against eachother in a precarious fashion, so I'm looking for something that can be applied to wet surfaces, sets fairly quickly, and holds up well in salt water.

thanks!

Matt

I don't generally recommend epoxies curing under reef tank water, but I know many people seem to use them OK. Don't us any that say anything about fouling, biofouling, mildew, etc.

Go to Home Depot or Lowes and look for the "Aquamend" epoxy putty for fiberglass. I and many others have used it with no problems. It will make you skimmer go crazy (as any epoxy) so shut it down. Be sure it is the fiberglass one as there are others that contain metals. It is a off white color when mixed. HTH

Hobster,

That's the stuff i got! Thanks! I think though, i will cure this for at least the first 48hrs in a 5 gallon bucket w/ saltwater, a heater and a powerhead... just to be safe.

thanks!

Matt
