My newly bought tomato clown pair has gotten ich,its in first stage and only a single dot on both of the fishes is visible.
They are eating and healthy and moving.& I don't want to do copper treatment as there aren't many reliable copper test kits available(and no there is no online shopping thing in my country).Do formalin-Malachite green combo works for marine ich too?
I do have formalin on hand, and ll buy malachite green tomorrow.
Can any one direct me on how to does and water changes and dips and everything related can I do Hypo with formalin-malachite combo ? Or is it only for FW ich ?

OK slow down....

If you are only seeing one spot, there is a chance its not ich. As far as I know the only safe treatments for crypt are....Hypo and copper oh and some like chloriquine. FW dips do not work on ich. So if I were you I would cotinue to keep an eye on the fish and feed them good. If it gets worse I would use hypo because you don't want to use copper. Make sure you have plenty of water change water if you are going to do hypo. Heeping the PH up is hard in hypo salinity.

But it were on both fishes and its gone now.So its surely ich,I dont want it to come back and hit harder.
And if I m not wrong steven prohttp://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-08/sp/index.php here preferred formalin over hypo and even copper.
But the problem is they are in a 10 G QT(they are of just 1.5"),The QT has fully working sponge filter.
So If I do a formalin dip to remove any trophont. They are still in water and if I go hypo way then I going to lose my filter, and I really dont have a very good pH test kit and the electronic pH reader is just out of my range. So,I cant go hypo My tank is around 84-85F so formalin in QT is risky too.
So,I dont know how to disinfect my QT water without going to kill my filter.I want to nip the things in the bud.I already had lost my maldives clown in past to brook because i waited too long for the treatment.

Do as you wish....I am only giving you my opinion from past expierience. If you asking for advice....I would leave the fish alone and make sure they are in excellent water quality changing out 100% of the water weekly. If the fish continue to eat and act llike normal for a week or two I would then begin a copper treatment using Cupramine. If you prefer not to use copper I would after the 2 week period begin a hypo treatment. If you want to do a formalin bath I would do a little more research, because the reading I have done states that formalin will not work on ich that is deeply attached to the fish.

From personal experience I have used FW dips, hypo and very well feeding... Above stated it says that FW dips dont work and I dont have anyway to discuss this but personal experience...
My ocellaris recently got ich and with heavy feeding and a couple of FW dips the clown fully recovered.

From the reading I have done...FW dips will work on Flukes but not crypt. When ich is in the stage were its attached to the fish nothing will work. Even copper only works on ich in free floating stage. So in my opinion you are wasting your time and subjecting the fish to something that is doing more harm then good.

Well the problem with use of copper is I dont find a good test kit for it.Thats why I dont wanna use copper.
Thats why I rather do formalin dips and hypo then poisoning my fish with copper.
To each his own but I think I got the part about quality feeding and superior water quality.& I think I wont rush things up if its MI then I ll treat when it shows up again at the first sign.
Thanks all for your help.
