Marineland Aquariums Yes or No?

Does anyone have reviews, advice or experience with Marineland aquariums. I saw a new one I kind of liked & just wondered how it would hold up over time.

They are made by a huge corporation with good quality control. Over 10+ years I don't recall ever hearing about any issues with them. There have been plenty for sale as well over the years so if say they hold up fine.

Well if you do a search for marine land tank failure, you'll get quite a few horror stories. Many are listed here on the site. I'm not sure if the issue is only w the larger tanks but I would definitely stay away from their big tanks. yMMV on the smaller set ups

I have a Marineland DD 150 cube and like the quality, not a rimless tank and front glass Starphire; I've read one or two horror stories and so from other companies.
My tank is new and will be set sometime within a year, 10 year tops...

I always think it's key when you hear about failures in big tanks to consider how they were mounted and maintained.

In some cases improper stands and surfaces such as hardwood and tile can lead to the tanks not sitting level and over time will wear-out the seals. Doesn't hurt to periodically check level of your stands.

A member of my club had their Marineland start failing at the seams from not being able to handle powerheads in wave mode.

Marineland can give you a lifetime warranty on the tank/s you purchase from them (retailers) but only if you buy a cabinet from them. Good warranty but only covers the tank/cabinet, any other damages are not covered.
Someone here on RC posted images of a different manufacturer's tank where the whole front glass just detached from the rest of the glass panes, big thick glass and the images show the glass piece as a whole unit just resting its weight on some living room furniture.
It reminds me of years ago of the debate about the Odysea light fixtures catching and seting homes on fire.
I owned a couple and never had any issues.
There have been leaky tanks from many manufacturers, of that I'm sure. I don't think my tank will spring a leak and I'm building the stand for it; I don't like the height of their stock stands.
I bought another cube, rimless 24x24x19, made by the same company, this one has clear silicone and is a lower end tank, meaning no Starphire and seems the silicone was applied by a new, in-training employee. I'm going to give myself the task of taking that glass tank apart and put it back together with black silicone but that's a different story...
I'd say go for it and if you get the tank drop shipped, inspect it well and if possible, don't sign if you notice damage on it; trucking company might just rush you into signing.

I doubt the bottom glass of the larger tanks can be drilled, there should be a label indicating if the glass is tempered; for the vertical panes I've drilled a couple Marineland; a 60G cube and a 70G; I'll be drilling the back of a 45G cube sometime in the near or far future.
Always check with the manufacturer or the LFS where you plan to buy it
