Marineland DD thread.

I don't think they made a 100 I think the smallest offered was the 36"x36" 150 gallon and as far as I know they always offered them in a 3ft=150 4ft=200 5ft=250 and 6ft=300 all by 36" width and 27" deep.

tlpmyd, It's a marineland, 60x36x27, looks like 1/2 on the sides, the front starfire. The bottom is 1"/ 2 -1/2" peices laminated. Picked this one over the 300 because it has one center brace.

heres my 250 marineland, got about 8 new sps over the weekend so it looks a lil more full now.

So how are all you DD owners getting your tanks into your rooms? Is the tank stout enough to turn on end or on its side to get through a doorway?

Reason I ask is that while I would have no problems getting the tank into the main part of the house thanks to french patio doors, the tricky part would be getting it into my game room/home theater room which has a single 3ft interior door that actually only measures 35" clearance.

They are plenty stout enough to tip on their sides. The biggest issue is passing them through the doorway without loosing your grip. Suction cups are a huge help but definitely not necessary.

I laid mine on the back wall and placed it onto some dollies to get it into the room. Biggest problem was getting it up onto my stand, as it's 38" high.

Thanks for the quick replies. Knowing that they can be turned on their sides just sold me on one. Now to decided, 5 or 6 feet long.

I also laid mine on the side, with 4 guys...lol. The problem then became fitting 4 guys through the doorway. It was a lil' nerve wracking. The stand was even more complicated. It had to be built in sections. The sections were brought into the house and assembled. We have the 200DD and LOVE IT!!

Here's our thread, which I need to update...lol.

Looking thru the tank at equipment behind, highly recommend the starfire, worth every penny.

mrfish55, KJAhp098, Thanks for the pics. Wish I had a filter room like some of you. Checking out your scapes, I'm looking forward to playing with some rock!

How much do this DD tanks run for? specially the 150 and the 200? are the stands also from marineland and how much are they?

I'm sure that everyone has a different price for the same size tank, I went to a LFS after checking several places for the same tank, $1,400.

I decided to build my own stand, only because the stand for this tank is only about 26"-27". I needed something taller to compensate for my skimmer.
I built a stand as per rocketengineers specs, right here on RC. I must say the stand is a tank.

My stand is 33" tall and made from 2" x 6" studs.

This is the beginnings of my stand.

I will start a thread today and post here.
