Mark's 150 gallon

Dang Mark. Those are looking really good man. Wow. About time

Thanks.

My interceptor arrived from the great white north! I'm set for a couple of years. I was worried because that credit card number was stolen soon after the order but I got the goods, they can have the old number. :D

nice pictures Mark and i see the corals are getting better and better!

Cheers,
Flo

Thanks Flo. No coral humping bastards in here. :lmao:

Beautiful! Keep up the good work!

Mark,
Keep it up! everything is looking great!

Thank you both very much! :)

KH: 7.3

PO4: .04 (14)
NO3: .05 if that! Who stole my nitrates? Perhaps the Seachem Matrix has kicked in at last?

I will continue to lower the amount of vinegar in the topoff. I'm happy with the PO4 reading, and this was after feeding reef roids today. 2 drops of PhosphateRx daily really seems to be keeping PO4 in check.

How long has the matrix been in? Great looking pics. Congrats again on steering through that recovery.

Thanks Kev,

Matrix went in last week of January and I have a post in April when Nitrates dropped below their normal levels that says "I wondered if it kicked in". So a long long time to have any effect but maybe now? :D

Unfortunately my graph of Nitrates doesn't show any real consistency over 6 months.

I have reduced my flake feeding to once a day at most (algae) and switched over to pellets. I've also reduced coral feeding to once or at most twice a week rather than almost daily. I think I was a serial over-feeder.

So IF they are doing anything I would really not know at this point. There's a lot of detritus trapped in the reactor and among the stones but certainly it's NOT a nitrate factory.

Taking down my 20 gallon rock tank before vacation. I had grown a sprig of Sargassum to a pretty large size so I planted the tallest branch in here to see if anything would eat it. The Foxface cleaned hair algae off it. :spin2: Seriously, this thing is hard as plastic.

Tank is starting to look good again from a distance, but still a long way to go.

Your tank is looking great! Out of curiosity, why are you taking down the rock tank?
Hope you have a nice vacation

Thanks. I kept some cured rocks in a 20 too see what would grow but unfortunately they are infested with caulerpa and it's just not fun to maintain. I might put one rock in here for the Foxface to chow down on, otherwise the rest is garbage.

Just checking in.

Tank is in vacation test mode this week, auto feeders setup, 16 gallon topoff bin operational (using a Rubbermaid 25 gallon thin container).

Of course coral growth has decided to take off so Alk has been dropping. I'm upping the amount if Kalk I use just a small tad and I'll dose the tank prior to leaving to get Alk a little above 7 if needed. I don't think it will drop that fast over a week.

My regular topoff is filled with straight RO/DI and hooked to a pump I can control via the Apex. If for some reason water level drops I can run it via a feed mode for a short amount of time.

I even fixed the garage door entry code thingy just in case I have to call the neighbor in to fix something.

All I have to do is remember to leave the sump doors open and set the camera in the right position.

What could possibly go wrong?

Nothing will go wrong Mark. During these days do a check list and don't do maintenance during the last minutes before you depart. In my experience there was when I forgot to plug something.

Enjoy your vacations !!!!

Daniel

Probably nothing mark, that entry code secured everything:p

I know right, probably the most important step was the 9 volt battery in that unit. :lolspin:

Thanks Daniel! It may sound crazy but all my maintenance is done on feed timers. B is used to shut down the sump, skimmer, and topoff long enough for me to complete a water change and clean the skimmer. I don't trust my old brain to remember anything.

Best part about going on vacation is coming home and actually noticing growth that happened while you were gone

Looking great. And yup, since starting my reef vacations just haven't been the same. Your tank looks great btw.

Thanks, appreciate it.

Yep, noticed the growth as soon as I got back! :)

Tank looks better than when I left so no complaints.

A few quick shots.

The only shocker was this one, which continues to go red.
