After all this talk of neglect, I went and did a waterchange, cleaned the skimmer cup and change some media. I might even get online today and buy some supplies :eek1:

Small steps my friend but, it good to see you more active:) .

mpoletti - Nice tank... I love it.

I'm planning a 150-200 gallon starphire (50"L x 32"D X 25"H) visible 3 sides (similar to yours) with a fish room behind the tank. I really want to put a Vortech MP40 on each side of the tank like you have yours, but I'm concerned about people bumping up against them or taking away from the aesthetics of the tank. My plans for flow are: Plan A - one MP40 on each side of the tank with 2 seaswirls on the back of the tank (about 400GPH each) or Plan B - 2 MP40s on the back of the tank with a seaswirl on each side of the tank. What do you think? Plan A or B? Any advice?

Thank You SW Steve.

IMO, Vortechs do not take that much from the looks of any tank. I'll take some a healthy looking tank anyday over aesthics  They are also pretty tough to knock off.
I would put them on the sides, but it really depends on how you are planning to aquacsape the tank. No matter what, I always want to provide enough flow to keep tabling corals alive as long as possible and that is why I am fan of flow :)

Thanks Brian, I figured to get a little bit out of the way as next weekend is pretty packed; we are going to be kicking it off with the Giants-Dodgers series at Pac Bell next friday :p

Sound like alot of fun and it seems that you are find a good balance in life :D . So are you a Giant or a Dodgers fan?

Balance is something I am trying to work again. Life used to be so serene and now that I have changed careers, I have begun to enjoy the important things in life again.

I am definitely a Giants fan. I was raised a Giants fan and so will Emma :)

Coming from where we were last year, I'm just happy being in the **might** talk. Besides, if we do get in, no one wants to face the #1 pitching staff in a short series. The Giants would be scary if they could actually hit :eek1:

Gotta admit Lincecum is a special talent and is likely to win the Cy Young again this year and Cain has come into his own. But Zito was a mistake and the rest of the staff is so-so. Maybe Penny can turn it around and if Sanchez ever gets consistency he could be good too. No, zero, zilch, none, nada hitting except for the Panda.

Cain has never got the run support, he has been this good for a couple years. Lincecum and Chris Carpenter of the Cardinals are in their own class. As for Zito, The contract is done and we got pass the Bonds era. Whats interesting is that Zito has the best ERA of the bunch since the All star-break :o I guess that is overlooked since he has had 10 starts where the giants have scored ZERO runs for him and another 4 where they have only scored one. He is much better that his record and for being the #3 or #4 starter, there are no other staffs that are even close to being that deep; but it all comes back down to the fact that they can not score runs. Did I also mention that the Giants lead the leauge in shutouts

BTW Dan, I just checked and Zito has only allowed 14 runs in 11 starts since the allstar break...That only leads the majors ;)

I'm not saying he is the second coming, but you have to respect anyone who has fought there way back like he has. Go Giants....

Runs allowed is a misleading stat as it is dependent on number of innings pitched although in this case it is a true reflection of how Zito has pitched since the All Star break with a 2.09 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP. I just don't think you can overlook his previous two years where his ERA was 5.15 and 4.54 with WHIPs of 1.60 and 1.35. Maybe he is pitching for his next contract?

The Dodgers and Giants pitching staffs stats are actually nearly identical in terms of ERA/WHIP (Dodgers 3.45/1.25, Giants 3.46/1.27). It is the hitting that is the difference between the two clubs with the Dodgers having a .272 average vs. the Giants' .257 and the Dodgers averaging 4.76 runs per game while the Giants are averaging 3.99 rpg.

As far as Carpenter and Lincecum in another league, no doubt but I think you need to throw in a healthy Santana in the mix also. (National League only, who cares about the Junior Circuit.)

All very good points Dan. I guess that the item I wanted to point out was that even though he is a bust versus the contract, the fact that he has battled back and is now a critical part of the rotation, its a surprise to many of us. Speaking of contract busts, what about Manny

Go Giants................if they had a couple bats there starting rotation could be battling each other for the Cy Young. Can't wait for football this weekend!!!!

Very true Rob. The opening weekend of college football was a nice apetizer, now I'm ready for the main dish :p

Didn't mean to diminish Zito's resurgence, there is no arguing that he has pitched will since the All Star break. As far as Manny, not sure if his is a bust (not withstanding the 50 game suspension). He definitely gives the Dodgers a threat to an offense which would otherwise be full of Punch and Judy hitters. Actually the person that I think has done the most damage is your boy Coletti.

But yup, bring on football!

Had to bust my sunglasses out for that last pic update :smokin: Looking great, Mark. I sure wish my tank looked that good when I neglect it;) The palettas pink tip is looking amazing!! No rouge mille shot, boo

Thanks, The rouge is a nice piece, but I only took a few shots this time around. That is one piece that I want to move as it is being shaded now because of others are growing out :)
