Mark's 180 Starfire upgrade

Mark.... Congrats!!!

To be honest I thought you had already been awarded TOTM in the past??? I guess I just knew your tank was TOTM quality! Well deserved!!!

BTW, I think you have to change your sig ("Not cool enough for any clubs.")

Your in the TOTM club pal, like it or not!

Thanks again, but I'm still not cool enough for any clubs ;) I just want my stars back for the thread. Ever since the upgrade, my stars dissapeared :uzi:

New page, new picture (well sort of)

Just had a minute to read through the TOTM article (gorgeous pics), is that a typo regarding your sp. grv. dropping to 1.020?

Mark, which VHO bulbs are you running? Someone mentioned that the 454 actinic is nice. What is that?

I run URI super actinics. The 454 is like a T5 blue, but they were not the same. I ran them for about 2 months, but switched back as they were not the same pop of the super actinic of old.

Ok, so you prefer the old school URI super actinics? I am almost finished researching lighting for my tank.

How many more questions wil I have to answer before your research is complete :D

Yep, if I wanted something that looked like T5's then I would of went with the skinny tubes ;)

Warning, warning, another noob question coming up. What rock should I go with? I don't want Fiji or any other dense rock. I desperately want Marshall Island live rock but have no idea if this is being sold. Can someone help a noob here?

Marco dry rock would be my choice if I started a new tank. That way I would be forced to take it slow and do it right ;)

Slow? What the hell does that mean! I want corals within 1-2 weeks of setup!

Considering I switched everything over in 36 hours, two weeks is slow. But really. I'd head to Neptune in milpitas as Robert has a good selection of Marco rock and a lot of eye candy as well. You can start cycling it this weekend with one or two seed pieces of lr and you're good to go.
