Mark's 180 Starfire upgrade

Congrats Mark

Pukani Rock is nice and porus Sang and you can get it pest free ;)

Is Pukani rock the same as Marco rock? Also, what do you guys think about these dimensions:

40x36x18

I am leaning toward the large SLS lumenmax reflectors. These are the large 22.25" x 22.25" x 8.75" reflectors that are a bit larger than the Lumenarc 3's. Basically, I want the aquarium to be as large as possible for coverage by a single 400 watt 20k halide and a couple 24" vho actinics.

John runs those reflectors on his 600 which is 48 wide and imo, there is not enough light on the edges for SPS. The center channel is fine, but then it just fades toward the edges. In fact, he is getting ready to add some T5's for extra light. Saying that, it all depnds on how you are planning the VHO's. You are probably asking the wrong guy as I like lights.
Karl's tank was 36x36 and he even had light issues near the edges and that was one reason why he eventually went to 2-250's and then back and forth.

I remember seeing Karl's tank and loving his dimensions. His tank has really influenced my decision to go with a 36x36 tank.

I just talked to Victor and it seems like I will be going with the Deluxe 8.5 w/new pump. Hopefully, the new pump should be ready by the time my tank is finished. With that said, I still haven't decided if I am going to jump back in.:( I really need to think this through this time.

I like 36x36x20. Pukani is wild harvested but you can get it dry, Marco is manmade ;)

Mine is 54 (only 48 of this is viewing space)x30x24" w/2x250w Radiums Lumenax Elite reflectors and plenty of light. Plan your light for the size of colonies not frags :)

This is an awesome build and really deserves to be TOTM! Congrats Mark! Your tank is one of my inspirations! Excited to see the featured article for your tank... wanting to re-read your system again! Well deserving!

I took close to 300 pictures over the month when I was getting ready for the article. This shot was one of my favorites :)
