Temporary frag tank...

Hung LED over temporary frag tank. 13 inches. Can I get away with coral and no bio source if I do very frequent and large water changes with no fish?

Started to cure some BRS reef saver and figi rock after treating it in vinegar for a week. About 50-60 lbs. Salt water, heater and mag 7. I assume keep it at normal aquarium temps 76-80.

How long do you think this process will take? I will do water changes every few days. Any other helpful hints?

When its done, what is the best way to store since it wont go in the DT right away.

Fish tank crime scene...the small rectangle will be cut out for plumbing to basement sump.

That's pretty funny. I did the exact thing this weekend with my new tank. Added a receptacle and drilled through the hardwood into the basement for the sump.

I also built a workbench with a laminate countertop for the sump and accessories.

So, did you purchase the BRS reef saver rock? I'm on a hunt for the best rock for the dollar at the moment and this stuff looks really good.

What size Brutes are you using? HD and Lowes only seem to carry the 32g size as the Rubbermaid website doesn't list a 50g either.

Thanks for the reply. So I guess I'll just go with the 32 gal too. It's plenty big enough to support a 90 gal tank.

So are you happy with your reef saver rock? Do you have any other threads with more pictures? So far the build up pics in this thread have been awesome.

Thanks. I try to keep the thread up dated with current picks. I'm in a holding pattern right now. A friend and I are building my stand. And I have to wait for warmer weather to buff out scratches on my used sump. Plus I'm wait for my Visa card to roll over. Its really full right now.

I'm cooking the rock as we speak so I really don't want to give you a false opinion of the rock. It does seem really nice thought.

I am now looking at Marco rock and reefer rock since I only have about 50-60lbs right now.

I think the 32g are fine for my 180, so you should be good too. Make sure you get the food grade. Amazon was the best price for me and delivered to my house.

Free rock is good rock

Yes it is...must be 75-100 lbs. He got it free from a friend who was leaving the hobby. Just concerned that it was in his garage for years. I spent an hour just rinsing dust off it. Hope there is no chemical contamination. Its really good looking rock too.

My temporary frag tank is ready to go, I'm waiting on some bacteria that will be on some filter pads.
Question...can I add an ammonia source to the tank without the bacteria (there has to be some in there no matter what.)
