Mark's upgrade to 120 Oceanic Tech

Mark, what material did you use for the outside panels of your canopy? I might have to steal your idea!

This morning with 2 ATI blue plus and two Kessil leds on.

Yeah,I could get 3 but only males were available.I am thinking of getting 3 females lyretail anthias and see what happens. As far as strawberry mint you're like #50 on my list. All my Chicago buddies want a piece too.

Over the weekend I did some work, scraped the back of my tank of coraline algae. It was hard work, but I think it paid off. Also got 5 Tierra Anthias two weeks ago . All Anthias are doing great, my Ventralis is going strong too. It is one of the most aggressive feeders in my tank. Not scared at all of bigger fish. Got a little outbreak of bubble algae, but will get two Emerald crabs, they should do the trick in addition to manual removal.

Hey Mark, how do you run the light cycle?
( On and Off times as well as the ramp up and ramp down on the ATI )

Thanks,

Looking great Mark, your Ventralis looks amazing. Making me want one :-)

Thanks,I got lucky and got one that was very healthy and eating already. They live in cool waters, but this one was kept in 77*F for six weeks before I got it. It is doing great so far in my tank. I wonder how it will do long term, since I keep it in the same temp.

Thanks,

Hi, my light cycle is as follows:
10 AM royal blue LED strip goes on
10:30 AM two of my Kessils go on
11 AM my 4 bulbs ( 3 blue+,1 fiji purple) go on, slowly ramp up to 100% by 1 PM
1 PM my two daylight bulbs (coral+) go on, 100% by 2 PM
7 PM daylight bulbs go down, off by 8 PM
8 PM other 4 bulbs go down, off by 10 PM
10:30 PM Kessils go off
11 PM blue strip LED go off

Hope this makes sense for you.

That's exactly the information I was looking for, thanks MARK.
I have one more question if you don't mind. How do you like the sea swirls?
Are they silent? Is it possible to have enough flow in a SPS tank using only the Sea Swirls?
I would really like to get rid of my Vortechs if I could get away with just the sea swirls.

Regards,
KC

I like my sea swirls, but they are just fancy rotating returns. Definitely not enough flow by themselves. Yes they are completely quiet. I too want to get rid of my Vortechs because I can't stand their noise anymore. My tank is in my living room and they are the only thing making noise in my tank. I think I will go with Tunze,I know they are bigger, but I can position them better and no noise at all.

How do you run them? I don't notice any noise from my two MP010 pumps.

MP10 are a lot smaller and less noisy.I run mine MP40 on Reef Crest mode about 70%. It is just that annoying whrrrr ,kind of humming noise that is very annoying to me now. It did not bother me before, but since I got my tank silent, I notice any noise now and it bothers me.
