Maroon Clown doing good!

I have had my maroon clown going on 6 months now and she is looking as good as ever. I would like to get her a mate but am worried that she would beat the tar out of him. I do have 2 anemones but she uses them both. She isnt very territorial unless you count using her tail to flick sand onto my goby. She has never bitten at him or chased him though.


When I first got her she had a nice set of hook worms on her head and still has the scars but otherwise still doing good and thought I would share one of our latest pictures.

She is very pretty! I am glad to hear she is doing so well and might get a little mate. Hopefuly everything goes smoothly.

Just get the tiniest one you can find. Then, I took an acrylic fish breeder box and drilled it full of holes. Put the new fish in it. I sat it right next to her anemone and watched. She went to it trying rub the thing. Blew my mind. To be safe, I left him overnight with the lid on the box and a small rock on top. In the morning I let him go. He tucked right into her anemone and they are man and wife now for 2 months. They NEVER fought which is unheard of. Try it that way, I've never even paired false percs that easily and I've paired a bunch!

I will have to try that. Sounds like a plan. As soon as the Lfs gets some small ones in I will try on pairing them up. If anyone else has a success story I would like to have a backup plan.

Ok, I went to my favorite fish store today and guess what he has had for the past 2 weeks. Yup that is right, a 1.25 inch gold stripe maroon! I should go there more often... I believe it is a wild caught clown. He and his new friend that is even smaller than him (probably .75 inches) are in my 2.5 gallon quarentine tank, even though I have never had a problem with any of the fish that I have gotten from this store. Here are a few pics.

And here is his little friend, just in case he picked up any parisites from his tank mates. They are both eating flakes and brine shrimp.

If anyone else knows a good way to try and mate them, I am up for some more ideas.
