Maroon clown: stereotypically evil?

Why does everyone think that Maroon clowns are some sort of psychopathic, bloodthirsty maniacs?
My maroon was the first saltwater fish I ever got, and she's never killed off any other fish, or even bullied them (to my knowledge). And she's still alive to this day, so she's interacted with every fish I've gotten. The only thing she ever tries to attack is my hand when I stick it in the tank...
HOWEVER, I have had a Klein's butterfly and Spotted Toby pair up and kill everything alive in the tank except the Maroon. Yet people don't seem to think them as bad as they think of Maroons.
Are other people's Maroons that bad? Am I just extremely lucky?
What gives? I don't understand why Maroons have such a bad rep.
My Maroon is a model citizen. :(

They're just naturally aggressive, but every fish is different. How long have you been in hobby? How old is the fish? I'd say you're extremely lucky.

My female's behavior is okay, it has improved since moving from a 50 to a 135. She doesn't care about some fish but will chase the wrasses from time to time. The male is harmless.

This reminds me of 6line wrasses. A lot of people have trouble with them and are known to be pick on other fish. While some people have a lot of trouble with them, others don't. I have never owned a maroon clown, but I heard they can get very aggressive towards other clowns. I am glad yours is no trouble!

My female maroon is probably around five or six years old, and I got her as one of my first three fish at maybe an inch long? I remember she was so tiny and delicate looking. She just stuck around the top of the tank for like a month, while the other two (Kaudern's and Pajama cardinals) floated around together. The Pajama was the first to pass, and I was so scared I'd lose my maroon because she was so small and looked so fragile. And now she's around 5.5". She actually stopped biting my hand last summer because I was going in there almost every day to move the conch from wherever he'd get stuck at...

I also just got a little 1.5" misbar maroon to be her boyfriend, and he's waiting in the acclimation tank. I don't want to release him until he can eat the food pellets in one bite, because right now he just pecks at them until they fall apart so he can eat them.
I have a sixline too, who's about a year old, and he isn't mean to the other fish either. He just chills around the acclimation box with them until I release them, and then he checks 'em out, and that's it. I've never seen him bully anything, except he massacres bristleworms, which is why I bought him, and occasionally he'd steal some mysis from my RBA.
I must have the greatest luck at picking out fish.

I think it all depends upon the individual. I has a mated pair of maroons (female was huge) for about 5 years with no issues whatsoever in a heavily stocked 60 cube.

I'm glad to see other people have success with maroons too.

I'm just tired of asking people for advice on what species I could add that wouldn't bother my inverts or try to fight my wrasse, and them always telling me, "Oh you can't get any other fish because maroons are SO aggressive blah blah blah"
It makes me so mad.
I just want to yell at them like, please, tell me more about my own fish that I've had for five years.

I have a pair of Maroons in my 300 along with 15 other fish ranging in size from 2in to 1ft. No issues with them being mean. They don't bother the other 2 pairs of clowns either. They've been in the 300 for a few years, and were in a 180 for a few years prior.

Evil fish! She is the only one attacking my hand. As for other fish - not so much except ocellaris clown once in a while. They are similar size, so no mortal combats. I had her for close to 5 years now. Oh well - I love her anyways
