Maroon Clownfish Care

Hi Everyone,

I am just looking for some advice on keeping a single maroon clownfish in a 55 gallon. I know they can be aggressive, however, will adding it to the tank last diffuse the aggression between the other fish (dwarf angels etc).

Are there any tips/advice to note when keeping one?

Does anyone have experience keeping just one and how aggressive they actually are?

any other info would be much appreciated

I have had one going on ten years, he has been through hell and back, tank crashes, tank moves, ick , he is a pig, makes a mess of the tank all the time by kicking up sand and will bite your hand if you put it in the tank.

How long would it take to reach its full size?

I have had mine for over 11 years and it now lives by itself. It had always been somewhat aggressive toward other fish, but last summer it snapped and killed a dwarf lion, marine betta, royal gramma, and almost my potters angel. It also drew blood biting me nearly every time I put my hand in the tank.

How long would it take to reach its full size?

I have seen maroons housed singly never reach their adult size, even within a 8 plus year period. I'm not sure if it is the case with them all the time, but it's my hypothesis that maroons may need a mate in order to produce the hormones to grow to full size.

I have one.. he always stays near his nem.. chases away some passserby chromis .. i cant say hes a total terror.

I have a maroon for about a year, hasn't grown at all maybe 1 1/4 inch long. Not a terror yet. We just put a nem in and he hosted in a day. He used to host the heater.

Update my maroon just got ousted from his? Nem. By a orange skunk clown so much for the terror maroon. Well maybe a third nem is in order. Maroon a terror....not mine.
