Maroon ID

Anyone here know if this is a young gold stripe, or something else? I've never seen a maroon with coloring like this. Pretty much all the "normal" maroons I've seen are solid in color, not having the beautiful dark fins that this one has.

For size reference, the fish is about 2in long.

GSM's are white until they several months old. If it's two inches long, I would expect you will start to see the white bands starting to turn yellow in the next few months if it it a GSM. Either way, it's a nice looking fish.

Ya, I don't really care if it's a GSM or not as it's one of the most beautiful maroons I've seen. I just find it odd that it has the dark coloring on the edges of it's fins like that considering that almost every WSM I've ever seen has plain red fins.

For such evil things they are so pretty. This picture is about 6 years old, she's much darker now, but around her fins is still light.

That looks JUST like a bigger version of mine!
That's a really beautiful clown. It's kind of hard to picture mine ever being that big. lol

It makes me wonder if this is something to do with where these maroons were collected? Put them side by side with the "standard" maroons, and there is a very notable difference.

cocoa clownfish

cocoa clownfish

i bought one a few months ago that was labeled as a maroon clown that looks just like your but got to researching it and found that c-quest is selling clownfish called cocoa clowns. i believe that is what mine is. darker around the edges of his fins. might want to check into it...

It looks alot like my male. He's about 2" and he's just starting to get the goldstripe. I can't even pic up the color with a camera, it's still too faint.
