I think i posted this in the wrong forum. So hopefully this is the right forum.
I tried to mate a couple of maroon clowns. i put the smaller newcomer into a cage inside the tank for 4-days to aclimate to the tank and not have to go through the extra stress of the submissive behavior right away. This morning I let him into the main tank. The larger maroon did what I expected and went after the smaller clown. The smaller, after 5minutes became submissive did the seizure with his belly turned slightly up.
Everything seemed to go as planned. But all of a sudden the larger started attacking the smaller again and would not stop. The smaller was extremely stressed and his fins were getting torn up. So I caught the larger and put him in time out (the in water cage). My LFS said that if I leave him in the cage for 3-4 days everything will be alright. Any ideas? I don't want send the smaller to his death. Is there any hope that they will be sexed and maybe mate?
Quick Update: The larger maroon is still in the cage, and the smaller is swimming around in the tank and not hiding. Unfortunately its fins are pretty tore up. I really need as many ideas on this situation, and to make sure I'm doing it right.
I need as much help with this as I can.
