Can't decide, 30 gallon, lots of live rock, and possibly an anemone

But, should i get a Maroon or False Percula/Ocellaris
both readily availible at my LFS, And i find that both look good, and are attractive fish

I am a beginner when it comes to salt water. Is one more suitable for 30gallon than the other. I would like to have a PAIR

BTW what are the Maroon's Natural Anemone

And the Ocellaris Natrual Anemone?

Their tankmates would include
2 Orange Firefish
1 Cherb Dwarf Angel
1 Royal Gramma
10 Turbo Snails
5 Pepperment shrimp

what are their native Anemone's
and are their anemone's easy to take care of

I am aware however that a anemone is not necessary for the health and well being of a clown

The BTA anemone is accepted by many species of clowns and is the natural host for Maroons.
Some clowns never take to a host while others will host in almost anything that moves.

For a 30gal I'd have to recommend Percs or Ocellaris, the Maroons grow too large and will most likely kill any other fish placed in with them.
With the Nemo types they will remain much smaller and less aggressive to fellow tankmates.

I definately agree with everyone else. The perc's are the way to go. The maroons can become very aggressive. A few years ago I had a 30 gallon long set up as an anemone tank. It had a huge BTA and two clarkii's. It was a good setup but the bta eventually outgrew the tank so I took it down. There are some pics of that tank from a few years ago on my website.

true percs not ocelaris and do you have the lights for an anemone they need pristine water and tons of light all nems need lots of light and amazing flow to be kept long term

You never know with The Maroons unless you try, I have a pair spawning in my 29gal. with,

1 Fire shrimp
1 Cleaner shrimp
1 Coral Lobster
1 Royal gramma
1 Yellow watchman goby
1 Yellow tail cromis

I have know problems with the Maroons picking on others, They just stay in there LTA and tend to the eggs!

I am aware of the difference between the true percs, and ocellaris, but is there a specie more hardy than the other?

As for lighting, would A Coralife T5 twin tube with 10,000k daylight, and a True Blue 03 Actinic Bulb be sufficeient for BTA or LTA

and if they were to breed, do they actually raise the babies,(Protect etc)

keep africans, thats y i ask, they are mouthbrooders, and some tend and defend their young
