Maroon & Percula Clown

I have a pair of percula clowns (small male / not too large female in a 75 gallon tank along with a purple tang and four blue / yellow tail damsels. Lots of live rock. I also have a 60 gallon cube that I am getting ready to sell and it houses a maroon clown (male I am quite sure due to its size).

The maroon clown is a bit larger than the perculas but not by much. The maroon clown tends to hang out in the botton of the 60 cube where as the perculas stay at the top of the 75 gallon.

What is the chance of being able to successfully move the maroon to the 75 gallon tank.

The maroon will most likely kill the Percs as it matures. Maroon clownfish are one of, if not he most aggressive clownfish species. General rule of thumb is to never mix species of clownfish in a tank, and only keep one pair per tank.

The maroon is probably mature and a male. The perculas are about six months in my tank. I suspect they will grow a bit more but not much. I was hoping the larger tank, lots of live rock might help the situation. The tank residents in the 75 are the perculas. I just like the deep red color of the maroon but it is the percs tank. So it anyone goes it will be the maroon.

If you say the maroon is mature, then it is a female. Clowns left as a single fish will turn into a female over time. Doesn't really matter though as you can't put the maroon in with the paired clowns.

Agree with both points.

My maroon clown is the boss in my tank. He is the smallest but runs the show. Extremly aggressive and bites me! Very beautiful I must say. I would never put another clown in my tank just because I know this one would tear it apart.

My maroon clown is also the boss of the tank. She will also bite me if my hand gets anywhere near her hangout.

+1 especially in a 75G. Can you trade it in to your LFS?

I can trade the maroon or the two perculas. I just happened to like both but am going to downsize and sell the 60 cube tank (home of the maroon). Not sure which I would take back. I guess the maroon.
