Maroons with extra markings

Anyone ever seen them? I know ORA has one on their website but I've never seen one until I went to my local petco yesterday. There were 2 of them... if I had room for an extra tank I would have got them!

Maroons are pretty mean fish. I have one in my 29g, have had it for 5 years now, and he has been a mean one since day one. I am just about at the end of my rope with him as he will knock over any rock or coral I place near him and his anemone.. and in a 29g tank.. that is just about everywhere.

I wouldn't recommend a Maroon in anything less than a 29g unless that is the only fish you plan on, especially if you want an anemone with it. Within a month I plan on taking both my anemone and maroon back to my LFS and put it towards a new, smaller, different anemone and a Picasso clown. The Maroon is a beatiful fish imo, but just to mean for my taste... almost as bad as a damsel.

Ace25, I also have a 5 yr old Maroon and she does the same thing with regard to knocking over any new corals or rocks. However, if you keep putting them back as soon as she knocks them down she will eventually aclimate and leave the new scenery alone. It took me two days this weekend to "fight" with her until I won. I had to put the new corals back at least 30 times. I also found that if I pushed some sand toward her home she focused her attention on fanning it away instead ramming the coral.

BTW, being 5 yrs old your Maroon is definitely a female and is keeping the "nest" clear. My Maroon used to be in my 29g and behaved pretty well, but now that she has more room in my 58g she is trying to take over even more space.

maroon wont hold a candle to a flame clown, and misbarred or fish with extra stripes are common with TR individuals.

Ok... so since no one answered the question I posed or posted any pics of their maroons with extra markings... I'm assuming no one has them?

I own a gold striped maroon clown with a large spot between two of the stripes. It is the exact same color as a stripe and is about a quarter of an inch in diameter. It is absolutely awesome. The stripes haven't turned gold yet, but I am wondering if the spot will turn gold too. Do you think this is hereditery? The dot is only on one side of the body. I will try and post a pic soon.

Personally, when I went to buy my Maroon, I had the option of getting several different ones with odd markings/bars/dots. However, as I prefer the ones with regular bars, that is the one I chose. Some had thin bars, some thick, some missing bars, or with spots instead, and some had all their bars but with an extra spot or piece of a stripe. It's all personal preference.

Not the greatest shots, but here are a few. This one a GSM:

This one a WSM:

And to show the other side (this one has extra marks on both sides) pictured here with her (normal) mate:
