Maroun 150g Build Thread

Man Each time you add another coral to this tank I'm saying there's no way on earth he'll be able to cram a single more coral in there and then you just add a few more:mixed:
Very nice additions and thanks for sharing the nice pictures. Love the clowns pictures. Ever tried to raise the eggs?

Actually I also added the frags (only 4-5) I got from switzerland that I still have to post here.
Still as I said previously the tank looks like a coral storage station.
never tried to raise the clowns as I never had access to rotifers and green water starting cultures as well as I don't have the time to do it as I'm always on travel...

Great pics maroun. And that wrasse is looking great.
You guys have been getting some cool fishes these days.

Yes we are.
Actually 2-3 LFS got very active all of a sudden and brought 5 orders with 4 orders out of them having SPS... So apparently its turning for the best.

Just found and read your whole thread! How amazing it is to see the progression of your tank over two years. VERY nice tank set up! I agree with other posters when they say you are one of the most patient reefers on Reef Central!

I am getting all the equipment ready for my 180 build, and I'm nervous because I know I'll probably be moving two or three times in the first two years. Your thread has shown me that its possible to move a tank of that size and still be successful!

Let me know if you are ever in Cleveland again (after next month, when I relocate there), and keep posting the amazing pics!

Thanks Aaron.
Glad to have you on the thread. Thanks for your kind words.
It is "feasible" to move the tank 2-3 times as I just did. Still I must confess that it is very stressful to have to risk losing livestock during multiple moves. as well as time consuming especially with my continuous travel. Guess the real question is wether yo uare willing or not to stay for 2-3 more years tankless which I was not especially after having lived abroad for the 3 years before without a tank.
The positive aspect is that after the final move you'll have alraedy a nice selection of corals you have collected over the 2-3 years and that's alway better than starting to fill the tank and waiting for it 1-2 years more to grow...
one other very frustrating aspect is never getting to see your tank mature. Hopefully this will be the last move for me.
Will let yo uknow for sure when I'm in Cleveland. Unfortuantely its not very frequent to be there maybe only 1-2 times per year...

A few frags I got:

Pink and smooth hoping it's a pink Suharsonoi:

couple of bicolor accros, on the right a light beige and purple tips and on the left a turquoise and blue tips both from a wild colony friend got, they browned out few days later in my tank as well as his, hoping they'll recover.

Finally a frag of my Red planet that makes it as the previous 5-6 ones Rtned the following day they were fragged!!! Neede a backup in case I lost the colony during the move.

on the far right a pink accro, lost a bit of color so did the mother colony but still pink at least.

Couple of milleporas

and a large frag and couple of bits of my Purple haze superman. This one bleached few months after I got it from teh states then STNd thought I lost it but then it made a quick recovery and is growing like crazy. Still not the same colours it was so will experiment with those frags under different lighting and flow.

Also got me 5-6 frags from Switzerland so will fly back tonight and take a few picsof them if they made it in the past week I was on travel. AS well as a couple of large Chalices a couple of friends picked up for me. So more on those later.

Great pics mate. How do you use epoxy to stick the frags on the plugs.Mine always come out.I can never mix the epoxy properly.End up glueing them always.

Thanks Haksar.
I either use some super glue on the plug so that it will hold the epoxy or just drill a small hole in the plug so you can attach the epoxy better that is if the plu is without a hole.
I sometimes use super glue directly to attach the coral to the plug but most of the time it will break and cause me to lose the frag in the tank.
I find that many epoxies we get in our area are not very good quality so I always get some with me when I travel. and sometimes the same brand epoxy smells and feels better when I bring it with me from Europe or the states...

Yes that is the issue with the two epoxies I have. Not mixing well and coral is coming off.
But with glue I have had more success.

Nice Write up for your thread. Glad to see you upgrading.
Will now go check on the new build thread. Hopefully it'll be as detailed as this one and with as much pics:beer:

Thanks Aquafred.
other thread is just starting as the build is a bit slow initially due to ongoing construction... should go much faster in 3-4 weeks from now and will be as detailed as this one.
