Maroun 150g Build Thread

Maroun, tank is looking great. You have to be the most dedicated reefer. I miss the Lebanese ice cream and miss Lebanon. I had some great and horrible times over there when I was a kid.

Twin spot wrass
Those were an impulse buy. Grew very fast and rolled over each and every frag and rock in the tank. It was a shock when I first saw them attacking my clams and they are responsible of the death of 1-2 of my clams.
Tried for weeks to get them out with no luck so finally the tank move did have some advantages.

Blue eyed Kole tang
Not themost beautiful fish outther but does have some nice colours that appear when he's in good mod. Hardest fish to picture as he moves rapidly constantly.

Thanks Catherine.
Everything looks quite the same The whole tank was moved to my parents house, Aquascaped all corals and fish are already in. Still have to finalize some electricals and plumbing issues but tank looks very similar excpet for a somehow different aquacape to facilitate coral placement... The move has been hectic so far and the thought of doing the same in one year when our appartment is finished is just scary, however Luckily I have not lost a single fish or coral so far. Wil try to document it when I ahve some tie but I was so stressed in getting everything moved really quick that I didn't have time to take pics...

I'm still not sure if I'll paint it or just get a layer of Blue acrylic and just stick it to it from the back. But you're right that posted on the back got really ugly with water drips and salt creep and impossibility of cleaning it...
will hold you down to your help offer though:D

how about you any tanks running?

Maroun, I'm armenian and georgan. I left for california in 84 when I was 9. Back in the 80s allot of European people lived in Leb.

wow then you must have had the worst days in Lebanon and missed the good ones. any plans for a trip to here?

its verry easy to paint once u disassemble the tank for the move. just clean the back pannel well and spray paint it from the outside. a piece of acrylic wont be as nice bec. you will have a layer of air between it and the glass.
i have no reef tanks at home right now, but im constructing 3 new ones for customer_friends at the moment will try to take pics of their progress and show them to you. take care .

Thanks for the info Maher.
Any specific type of paint you use or will they all stick to glass? and any special preferrence to blue or black?

Maroun,
I just painted my back glass two nights ago. I used Home Depot, Rustoleum Brand, Painters Choice Latex paint. I painted a dark navy blue and brushed on 5 coats. You can see pics of it on my build thread here:

.My 90 gallon Build thread- shows painted back glass

I know you are in Lebonon, but I'm guessing you can find a decent brand of latex paint. I have also seen a Tank spray painted with Kylon (hardware store spraypaint) and it was holding up too. The paint will easily peel off if you pull up an edge, but I even painted inside the overflow box where water is flowing on it, and after 5 days of testing the paint has held up fine
