Was amazed by the Atlantic blue tang colors on my last visit to Denmarks aquarium (pic in previous page) and got a nice surprise when I got back that one of our LFS had a fish shipment from the USA (we never get the atlantic tang and some other fish here) so got this juvenile one as well as a flame angel

Unfortunately lost both in the introduction tank. They were both well for few days and ate but then just died with no apparent reason on them. Flame was replaced hoping this one makes it through quarantine.

Also got a Gramma Loretto from same shipment, a fish we never see around here. and an Argi pigmy angel which is the first time I also saw it too. Argi and flame are doing well in Quarantine so hopefully there will be no problem in the tank.

and some more to follow shortly

Over the last two years every clam I had added only survived around 3-4 months except for one that got killed by an accro falling in it.. none of the 6-7 clams I had did attach and the ones that came attached all lost their attachments after some time.
So at a certain moment I thought I either had a clam killer or pest in the tank. So I kept the tank free of clams over the last 3-4 months and couple of weeks ago added three cheapo clams that one LFS brought in jus tto check if these will attach and stay alive. We never recieved clams with these patternes before and 2 of them turned out to be rather nice. Are these deresas?

Clam two is a bit hidden in the GSP but has a nice more blue color in it

and the 3rd one is brown but has a nice pattern

wished these were a bit more "shining" than the dull color they had at first but after few days I could clearly see the blue become nicer on the first two. Weirdly they attached the next morning. The brown one is in an area of rather high random flow but looks very happy and attached so I 'll guess I'll leave it where it is.
would apreciate an ID for those.

Not sure I'm hoping someone will ID them.
already posted in the Tridacnid forum so hopefull I'll get an ID.
I Ahave never seen such pattern on a clam before. At first I thought these might be Deresas but I realized Deresas would have asmooth shell. So that leaves Crocea and Maxima.

The clams got ID'd on another thread in the Clams forum as Maximas.
I also did some clam shell comparison to other maximas I had and also by looking at pics on the web and the shell matched most with maximas it was only the coloration that was tricking me as I neverthought that maxima comes in brown or brown spotted with blue or brown with a blue pattern on it. I'm kinda liking them more each time I look at them.
So the only question now is wether they'll have the same fate as the previous ones I had or not.

Is your Suharsonoi green or blue.Sometimes pictures are deceptive.
BTW nice pics.Clams looks like Maximas from its shell.Nice catch.

Hope we could get some flame angels here.My PT died mysteriously last week so want to add another fish.

Hey Haksar,

Did my pictures ever deceive????
seriously it's a bright yellow. I Also got a frag of a "matt' Yellow one and another bluish one but those are just tiny frags...
As for the flame angels the LFS here still had 4 when I traveled next week, I should be coming to Dubai in a couple of months so if they still have them I could always bring one with me.
Unfortunatly can't house any more fish in my Qtank starting next month as the temp goes very high and I don't have a chiller on it...

Most of the time the pictures don't do justice to the real color. If my luck is good bring over the Flame otherwise its ok.

Latest fish addition:

Fairy wrass,

And 2 yellow fin flasher wrass. I'm hoping they will become a mated couple...

in acclimation cup, these guys can change to an ugly color when stressed.

and to end a nice heads on.

These were not on my intended fish list however they added very nice colors and movement to the tank especially the flasher wrass as they swim close to each other most of the time and are very colorful.

My 6 line wasn't very happy with this addition and gave them a not so warm welcom but ignlred all three starting day 2

One more wrass added to the tank: Anampses meleagrides Valenciennes
Hopefully this one will make it as I have lost one like it in the past.

Couple of weeks ago just before traveling to switzerland my pair of clowns changed they're nesting site. they always spawned in their cave where the anemone use to be. that entailed aggressive beating of anyfish venturing in the cave for 10 days till the eggs hatched. After the move 1 year ago they continues to spawn in the same area even after the anemone moved to an area with more light and much more flow. at the time the anemone had shrinked and bleached so they lost interest in it.
Few months back the anemone started an impressive recovery and it now 90% healed and growing like crazy they started to go back and sleep in it even if it's balsted by my vortech Mp40...
so this time before spawining I saw them cleaning the rock next tot he anemoen and predicted they are going to spawn near it. Never expected the eggs to be so sticky to be able to attach to the rock in such area of high flow.
and the worst part is that the no fish land now was right where I feed my fish and where they go each time I'm nex tot the tank so there was some more beating that usual for all other fish as well as a redecoration of all my rocks and frags in the area as the Mrs becomes very iritated when spwawning and takes out any rock she feels is in her way till the eggs spawn.

Some pics:

Unfortunately had to travel so couldn't take any macros of the eggs at 6-7 days where yo ustart seeing the eyes. I'm hoping they'll spawn in the same place next time so I can get those shots as It was very difficult to take pics in their cave.

Wow, love all your updates Maroun! The clown pictures are amazing, so cool! I have had my two clowns for a year now, they are constantly cleaning a rock area in my tank, but I have yet to see any eggs. The picture with all the other fish waiting for any eggs to float towards them is crazy! I'm wondering what happens to the hatching babies... do they get eaten by everyone? Does that upset the clowns? Thanks for all the wonderful pics!

Thanks Sue,
I'm sure if they're already cleaning the rocks that you'll find some eggs soon. Most of the babies will get eaten I guess and the rest won't make it in the tank as there are no rotifers... for them to feed on.
I can always find a few abbies swimming under the carpet anemone where no other fish ventures and sometimes I see some in the sump but never had any grow. Not sure if this upsets the clowns but I don't think so as their eggs have spawned and dispersed as they do in the wild. And as long as they are spwaning every 14 days guess it's OK with them.
