Mars discounts?

I read on the mars web site that we get discounts ,but it does not say were or how to get them.So now that I am an official memeber of the mars club could someone pm me with this info?Do we get a discount at liveaquaria dr fosters& Smith?Thanks for any input,Chris.

Chris,

It is for Local fish stores. Your reef is 10% and 20% the day after a meeting. Just need to show them you card. This does not include salt though.

Not really sure what other shops give discouns i know O street and Exotic use to give 10% but have no idea these days.

I think we'll need to wait for Paul B. to get back from Florida and make the rounds to determine which LFS are giving the discounts, when and how much.

I know that John/YR gives 20% off the Saturday after meetings on everything where his profit margin will allow for it. Other than YR I cannot confirm or deny which other LFS give a discount to MARS members.

There's a lengthy thread around here somewhere discussing the matter. It addresses both which stores offer what discount, and suggests diplomatic ways to request the discount. I personally no longer request it. Sorry I couldn't find the thread.

IMHO I think we all should let the store know that we are MARS members and ask if they do a MARS discount. If they don't, so be it. Thank them anyway and ask that they support the club as they can. If they do then again thank them for their support. Also pay attention at the meetings and if they are a store that contributed to the meeting raffle then mention that you saw the items they donated and thank them.

I know the LFSs I hit are aware of my membership. Not suggesting we don't ask for the discount, but do so diplomatically. Great ideas there John.
