Shiela - well said. You got my vote. :D

BTW - I will have to say that Robert has contributed much more to the club than he has received. I admire his dedication in volunteering for the WMC committee - sometimes driving a long as 3-4 hours to get to the meeting.

This thread is about moving on with the club, not going back. Can we, as a club, get past this and continue or do we just fold it up and stay home?

I think there is a lot of good that this club can still do. I know I am a better aquarist because of the knowledge shared by Pam and John and Rich.

Bickering over who knows the 'real story' from whatever source will only hurt the club and its members. Let's get back on topic please, there's work to be done.

So far, it looks like we have the following people running for office:

Currently Nominated
President-- Brian Prestwood
VP --- Bruce Azzarito
Public Relations---Mandy Black and Justin
Treasurer---?? Open
WebMaster---Sheila Black
Secretary-- ?? Open
Board of Governors- Douglas Lee & Trina Lee

The treasurer postion is very critical. Hopefully someone who is good with numbers will run for this position. BTW - if the new board needs help with anything, I am more than willing to help.

Been to the house in Carmel lately???

My posts are all revelent under my business name SierraSaltwater. If you notice, every post is business related, I am not trying to hide anything.

Here is a link to your alias posts Rich (trg351), Mr. President of MARS.

Maybe after your term is done, you can join our club under another name.

Your question about a house in Carmel makes no sense to me and another example of you not getting your facts straight. I do like to golf in Carmel, but I usually stay on a boat in the Santa Cruz harbor.

Thank you Minh.

OK, we all have our reasons for doing what we do and for giving to the club. This thread is not the place to air out the old laundry. This thread is to foster interest in getting people to come forward and run for a position on the board that will run the club for the next few years. We still need a few good people to fill in the blanks.

WOW, I could smell the stink all the way over in the BAR forum. This sucks :(

Can one of you open the window, your dirty laundry is stinking up the entire board :)

Guys, take it outside.

Lets focus on the elections. A question about past trends on the board is probably legitimate. I don't see how questions about specific events help a candidate decide to run.

If you have questions about specific events that current candidates participated in then ask the candidate politely.

Thanks again Minh.

MARS Elections 2007

MARS Elections 2007

As starter of this thread & head of nomination committe,
I want to thank Brian & Bruce for trying to get this Thread back to where is Belongs.
This is for those who WANT to run for Office/BOG positons at MARS.
Not for other topics.
Please feel free to nominate your self or others. The more people we have running the better.
Nominations will still be asked for at the Next Meeting.

Dear Quasarlee, MandM, Brian Prestwood, and CaptiveReefSystems,

I'm sorry that this thread was sidetracked, and agree that whatever did happen, should not be posted here. This will be my final post on this subject.

Right or wrong, perhaps I'm just not able to put friends above the club

What I meant to say here, was that I would never put the club above friends.

I no longer care to know exactly what transpired within the current BOD. However, the accusation(s) was serious enough to warrant the resignations of two who helped build this club to what it is today.

I know some of you would like to simply move forward, but just from my viewpoint, I will not be a part of an organization that could just 'sweep this under the rug'.

I hope that the future BOD of MARS, strongly consider investigating the matter privately. Again, I have no opinion about who was right and who was wrong, but I believe Pam and Marc deserve that at the very least.

Best regards,

Karl

Hi, remember me... I'm a newbie to this place and even attended one of the meeting to check it out to see if I wanted to join. I have posted some threads and have been attacked, slamed, and made to feel really welcomed. NOT. You can have it. I wouldn't join this club for a million bucks. Some of you have been nice and its been a pleasure to meet you; but after reading this thread, there's too much whinning and pointing fingers. Who the removed cares. The "club" is about people getting toghter and sharing triumps/pitfalls so we all can learn. We all work 40+ hours at our jobs and are tired when we come home, we just relax differently than everyone else- we watch our tanks. Nothing more, nothing less. Like I said before- who cares- you guys don't, and your showing it.....ps. good luck on finding new members; cause, if this is how you do it- god help you.

Well said!

I think most people that read this forum and consider joining this club would agree with you.

Check out the NVR club - great bunch of people!

Yes, this doesn't make the club look good. But, at its best, a hobbyist has a lot to gain from being a part of it.

I do believe in 2nd chances, and hope to see that all parties can get together and smooth things over.

(okay, so the above was my 2nd to last post:p )

Ouch! This thread got really dirty. I just wanted to say thank you guys for stepping up, :) Justin, you got my vote....although I'm confused...is Mandy black, MandM's daughter???if it is, I would like to vote for her also, but since this is not Florida I have to pick only one :)
I understand that there are a lot of people still upset, misinformed, and some too informed…This is all in the past, the future is looking brighter with a whole group of people that are willing to give it a shot, no one is perfect so mistakes and misunderstandings are expected…but life is about change…and change is good, specially right now. Unfortunately what happened or didn’t happen really hurt the morale in the club, this doesn’t make the people involved any worse but it does change the public’s perception and like it or not perception is everything.
I would run for something but I’d feel weird talking about cichlids and plastic plants in a reef meeting.. LOL
Where’s the official photographer position? :P

Call me immature, but I always found the trg357 thing funny and many of us knew, just didn’t bring it up.

The way I see it, I don't agree with Bush but it doesn't mean that I'll be moving to Europe, I still love this country, and love the hobby, it just means that I have to wait for better in the next election so I can vote for a lady democrat....ok maybe that won't happen but what ever :)

Ok, where the heck was I? Oh yeah, GOOD LUCK GUYS, AND GALS :)

Opinions have been expressed, votes have been solicited, time to get on with the election. Closed due to current election laws..................
