Mars frag Swap on March 1st

So are frags supposed to be mounted or does it matter? I read the post but still don't quite understand how to get frag certified as "rare".

Jake - either way is fine. "Rare" qualification is obviously tied to value and rarity of a particular coral locally. More expensive it is, the more likely to qualify. They just started a thread on prequalifying corals so you will know before you show up. HTH.

Am paid up too and got qualified for the rare already too so am good to go. Although I think my side trades are going to be better than the swap :D I might stop by some LFS there too

Here is a cut and paste of the address and other info....

March 1st Frag Swap
The swap is March 1st at 8267 Deseret Ave
Fair Oaks, CA 95628. We will be opening the doors at 11:00 a.m. and the swapping will take place at noon. There will be a free raffle and a delicious lunch. If you have rares please be there right at 11:00 so there will be time enough to have them judged.
It would also be greatly beneficial and cheaper if you prepay on paypal. The cutoff for the discounted admission will be thursday night at midnight. We ask that there be no ziplock bags and that all frags are marked as to what they are. For rares the frags must also include who they are from. This should be fun and I can't wait to see you all there.

nope! You will be very happy with what you bring home, I have never been dissapointed going to these events.

The location does not allow a "raffle" to be held onsite if we sell tickets. So, since we still want to have a raffle, the tickets will be given to everybody, instead of bought.

Marine Aquarists Roundtable of Sacramento would like to cordially invite any and all members of a reef clubs to our first annual MARS Spring Frag Swap, 2008. The swap will be held March 1st 2008 at 8267 Deseret Ave Fair Oaks, CA 95628.

Google Map Link

The swap entrance fee is 9 dollars prepaid (via paypal â€"œ paypal@marineaquarist.org) and 12 dollars (cash) at the door per adult (16+). Included in the price will be a delicious lunch (sandwiches) and beverages. We wholeheartedly invite you to bring children (under 16) and they may eat free of charge. Spouses are welcome with their own paid admission and are welcomed to participate in the swap as long as they meet the requirements (bring 3 frags and pick for themselves).

Please note that there will not be a “buy in.” If you cannot bring frags, we as a club would greatly recommend stopping by one of our LFS as they should be able to sell you 3 frags in the $25 to $40 range (total).

Please see the following thread for details about the mechanics of the swap, rare/extraordinary judging and any questions:
