Mars meetings

Go to tonight's meeting. Meeting is free. Worth checking it out. If you like it and this forum, join up. There are also additional activities such as group DIY builds, etc.

MARS tracks its membership through its website. If you want to join you'll have to register on the MARS website...

Marine Aquarist Roundtable

I suggest you do it before the meeting so you can ask questions if you get stuck.

If you want to join pay your dues and provide the secretary, Kim Whitfield, with your website account. She'll have the webmaster activate your account.

When is the meeting?
I saw that they had a guest speaker, but I'm more interested in going to your "regular" 9reoccuring0 meeting.
Also, do we just show up?,
and are we able to trade buy things etc.

Q:When is the meeting?
A:See below (Meeting Info)

Q:I saw that they had a guest speaker
A:We almost always have a guest speaker at every "Regular" meeting.

Q:Also, do we just show up?,
A: Yep.. If you have any trades going on with members at the meeting, remember to bring a small ice chest or such. Trades are usually setup here on RC before the meetings.

Q:and are we able to trade buy things etc?
A: Yes, but like I said I don't know any people who just bring stuff to the meetings to trade or sell without already having buyers confirmed, usually setup here on RC before the meetings.
There is however a raffle so you might win stuff there, if you buy tickets..

OK,

I registered online and will pay tonight. but i dont understand what you mean by give your website address?

I think she will need the user name you registered under.

So where exactly at the round table is the meeting held?
Is it in the private room in the back?

Oh and how many people usually show up?

I'm highly considering joining, but the problem is that I don't have the $25 yet that I could dish out, so I wanted to get as much info as I could to see If I was truly interested.
It's not that I want to sound cheap, but I'm really triing to save money to go towards my future tank. :)

At this point, if you didn't go... Too late. But do go next month.

FREE.

Yes, in the back room.

40-100 people (In my limited membership).

Just go.

$25? You'll feel like that's a bargain after you realize what you receive in exchange. If you spend a fair amount of time here (RC and RC MARS forums), your conscience will be at ease. Trust me, your dues are a speck in relation to the knowledge you'll have access to here and you'll feel better knowing you paid your dues when you need help (and you will need help, as we all have...) You'll more than earn that $25 back in tips to save ten-fold that on setting up your "future tank". You'll get the advice, either way :P, but you'll feel better about it knowing you're a member and have literally paid your dues.

And you can be privy to the free stuff that sometimes goes out to members only.
I know I have given $100's out in free frags to fellow members.
And I know I have received $100's worth of free frags from other MARS members.

Also if you missed out on tonights raffle you missed out big!
It has to be one of the best the club has ever had, it was insane!!

ALSO: A HUGE THANKS TO THE LOCAL FISH STORES WHO DONATED ITEMS FOR OUR RAFFLE!!! (Exotic, Coral Reef Shop, and MikeB, and any others I wasn't aware of) AGAIN THANKS!!!

I guarantee you there is no better investment to your future tank than MARS.

I should add that my first meeting was tonights meeting. I got some bright ricordia, great zoas, a torch coral, and more zoas all in trades and the raffle.

Really... Kudos to those who contributed to the raffle donations. I don't think anyone went home empty handed. There were SOOOO many great pieces up there! :inlove:

from a fellow newcomer, I highly recommend it.

Oh so true. I have only been posting here for a week or so and already i have recived frags and much help from people here. Knowing that there are people in the greater Sac area that you can ask for help and advice makes this expensive hobby a little easyer to jump in to. Yes, you might be able to post for free, but i cant wait to pay my dues next meeting! Thanks for all the help so far.
