Anyone have one?

The scientific name is Calcinus elegans...
A friend just gave me one, she has had for a year or so... I think she said...

He has been doing great... but untill recently..

He has learned that he can feed off a small plate coral she had while target feeding it...
He was ripping the mouth open to steal the food..

So she had to get rid of him... so I took him, the crab is too awsome.. right now he has found a tiny bunch of hair algae... and is mowing through it..

Anyone else have them in their mixed reef displays?

Im thinking of getting like a dozen of them... they are too cool!

I have one. But I'm just starting my mixed reef. I have a good size clean up crew and just 3 corals. No problem so far, although I saw him try and molest a large Narsarius snail a few days back. The snail just simply slipped below the sand to get rid of him. My kids love him and have named him bobo

They are a bit rare in the hobby, also expensive. They are called electric blue hermits, they cost about $12 each. That is about 10 times what a small blue leg cost. You tank may not be able to support that many also. Just get 2 more is best.

I have one, mine never stole food from my corals.

So far mine has just been great,

I can get them wholesale, so its no big deal to me the cost, however... I think your right about not being able to support that many.. I may only just get 1 or 2 at most more..

thanks for the advise!

I've got some in a 15 gal Nano. They are very attractive and amusing creatures. Here's one dining on the remains of a whelk's foot--I had already eaten the jucier parts:D
