MASLAC August Meeting!

Hey Everyone,

This Saturday, August 12 at 6:30 p.m., MASLAC will have its August
meeting at Salads Galore in Encino. Our featured speaker will be
Randy from SoCal Creations, manufacturers of custom acrylic
aquariums. The topic will be acrylic maintenance and scratch
removal. Here is a great opportunity for you to learn how to avoid
those annoying scratches on your acrylic aquarium.

We will also have a featured tank presentation from Ken Lunde. He
will share his awesome new system for the first time.

There will also be two brief vendor presentations from John Warner of
Warner Marine and Jim Newman from Makin' Waves.

Of course, we have our fantastic raffle to end a fantastic night!
Remember, your raffle purchases help bring out future speakers and
fun club activities. And, speaking of future presentations, here is
our upcoming Fall Schedule:

September: The one and only Bob Fenner author of many hobby books
and articles, visits MASLAC for the first time in
several years!

October: Sarah Lardizabal will speak on seagrasses in the
aquarium.

November: Adam Blundell will talk about "What is Reef Safe?".

If you are thinking about becoming involved in the MASLAC planning
committee, we will hold our board meeting at 5:30 p.m. before the
general meeting. Please come and join us! We are actively looking
for new members to join the board.

There is a lot going on in MASLAC so be a part of it!

Since our President forgot to update this thread, I thought I would pass along his words:

Hi Everyone:

Just wanted to take the moment to thank everyone for bearing with us during a VERY last minute venue change for our August meeting! This is the first time I can recall that the club had to do this, and it worked out fine. We had a very solid turnout and a good time!

As it turned out, we had a terrific meeting with some great
presentations By Ken Lunde and SoCal Creations. And we had a great raffle with some killer prizes! Special Thanks to John Warner from Warner Marine and Jim Newman from Makin' Waves for stopping by to talk about their businesses!

Don't forget the upcoming MASLAC Logo Contest! We've already received some very nice entries, and are looking for more. Please contact Dave Purviance if you are interested in submitting a logo design. The deadline for submissions is October (we're going to have a vote for the winning design at the October meeting)!

Next month is author, lecturer, and everyone's all-around-fish favorite guru, the one and only Bob Fenner!!!! The meeting will be held at a special location TBA. And, we'll our featured aquarium will be Virginia Causton Keene! And of course, we'll have another AMAZING raffle! Stay tuned for more information on this EXCITING meeting!

This is going to be the kickoff of the "New Fall Season" here at
MASLAC, with some of our biggest and best events of the year, so don't miss it!

Don't forget, if you have any desire to serve on the MASLAC Board in any capacity, you're welcome to get involved!
