I will get an update next week. They made a couple design changes early this year to increase the performance and make it quieter and they are wrapping up the testing and finishing the molds for the needle wheel which was the main change.
The 9420 is a large acrylic tube with a needlewheel pump, it is a substantially larger skimmer, measuring 18.75" across at the widest point and 20" tall.
The new design uses a needlewheel, it does not replace the 9020, it is for bigger tanks and a much bigger sump is needed. I would say the new design is more efficient.
I was not given a definite answer, only that the bodies are built, motors are in stock and it all comes down to getting the needlewheels made. It shouldn't be much later than end of March, worst case scenario, mid April.
Hello Roger, on the 9480 the stated diameter is 21.6 inches. Is that total diameter including the pumps? I need to know how wide of a sump i would need to fit one in. Thanks eric
So if one were to hypothetically place an order this week.....it may get fulfilled? For say a 9440??? Because frankly....the curiosity is killing me....
