Matching salinity in QT and acclimation

If salinity is matched from the place of purchase in the QT tank. Is an hour good for acclimation? Or can it be shortened? Or longer?

Personally I wouldn't recommend anything but floating the unopened bag in the water for 10-15 minutes to match temp then just open and dump them in the tank..
I think acclimation does more harm than good..

I don't totally disagree, however, KNOW the source of your fish and their husbandry practices. You don't want to dump a gallon of STRANGE water into your tank with lots of crap in it. I say FLOAT, and then either dump the water out and then dump the fish or use a net to reduce the possibility of introducing something bad into your tank.

its a qt tank. does it really matter. plus when using a net you can still introduce disease to a tank. some diseases or parasites don't die when the net drys out. next time you put it into your tank you introduce the diseases.

Even though it is going into a QT, water that arrived with the fish could have a buildup of ammonia.
