Mate for C. interrupta

Hi Karen :wavehand:, anything cool going on in fish breeding world?

Well there is some cool work being done with the seahorse H. bargibanti by Rich Ross and Matt Wandell at Steinhart Aquarium in California.

And thanks for the reminder that I need to update the blog! I had started a P. venusta larval run for the Rising Tide project at the end of May where i was only using cultured copepods (vs. wild copepods) as food. It petered out at day 8 but I'm still feeling positive that it will work. I haven't had another good spawn from the venusta but am hoping to get one this week with the new moon.

I've been setting the egg screen on Faith and Fabio's tank with no eggs to be seen but tonight they are getting a little wound up. Jaws and Connie the joculators are also putting on a show so maybe we are in for some more fun soon. If we do get eggs from these pairs the larvae will be reared on wild plankton since I only have enough cultured food for the venusta larvae.

Fingers crossed for spawns this week.

Did you by chance take advantage of bagging blondie up to take some pics of her?

Unfortunately I missed that opportunity.
I had moved Blondie from her tank into a grow out tank of latezonatus clowns so that I could catch her out more easily on shipping day. She was hilarious when I put her in with the latz. She seemed to think they were space aliens by the way she was looking at them. She is super friendly for a flame back but she wasn't so sure about the latz. She did warm up to them after a couple of days and I tried to get video since both species are so cute at this age but she hid every time I brought out the camera. I hope Ted can get us some good shots after she settles in at his place.

I have been following you and your research for some time now and appreciate all you and your team have accomplished.

It's been a very long time and unfortunately I never did get any offspring out of Faith and Fabio. I did however finally get to raise some C. interrupta which are currently 5 months old and in grow out. They will be ready to go soon and it's a nice completion to the Fabio and Faith story.

The Faith and Fabio crowd funding that originated and was supported by members of Reef Central back in 2013 was an amazing part of my life! I couldn't believe how many people believed in my passion to raise fish. That support truly gave me the confidence to move forward full time with marine ornamental breeding. My plan was to have a raffle for those involved in the "Girlfriend for Fabio Campaign" with one of Faith and Fabio's offspring as the prize. That raffle will finally be held (8 years later!!) with one of my current interrupta juveniles as the prize.

I have the names and their associated email addresses that were used to donate to the fund for acquiring Faith. I'll be using those for the raffle and hopefully be able to get in touch with the winner through email. Thanks to you all!!!
